DYNAMIC SPORTS PROTECTION

“Providing people with head-to-toe protection in dynamic sports”

This has been the company’s mission ever since it was founded in 1972,a mission that Dainese has pursued on racetracks and slopes all around the world together with some of the greatest racers of all time. Beating the competition at the highest level demands only the best athletes, methods and equipment that talent and research can ever hope to put together while providing an extraordinary opportunity to place these competitors, technology and products to the toughest test of all.
Together with Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi, Dainese has gone down in motorcycle racing history thanks to its development of products like the back protector and knee slider or the further evolution of existing products with innovative technologies and materials. Dainese was the first to introduce carbon fibre and Kevlar protection in its gloves, boots and racing suits. Dainese was the first to consider protection as a “head-to-toe” concept that permeates all the various motorcycle rider’s clothing and protection for optimised performance and weights. From head to toe precisely, and nothing less.

R & D and competition provide the impulse for a journey first begun over thirty years ago that has consolidated the experience of the past and perfected an articulated and flexible concept of safety that Dainese considers a balanced combination of protection, comfort and reliability built into products capable of providing efficacious response to the needs of the widest range of users. Race-track riders obviously require a different blend of protection and comfort than those who drive to work on a scooter every day. The D-Tec (Dainese Technology Center) technicians are the ones who are responsible for transferring the extreme experience from professional sports to collections for every other type of riding (Racing, Touring, City) in which each and every consumer finds the most appropriate product.

This approach to learning and designing lets Dainese transfer the protective technologies it first developed for one sport to others, especially those in which the needs for adequate protection are receiving increasing attention. Today, with its No Impact Collections, Dainese is already protecting skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, and water sports fans, while greater safety for other sports like horseback riding is now on the drawing board. Here as well, collaboration with athletes the likes of Deborah Compagnoni, Lasse Kjus, Giorgio Rocca and now Aksel Lund Svindal provided the starting point for the development of a concept of protection that cuts all across the board, from slalom gates to freestyle pipes
Again: safety is first designed “from head to toe” and then extended to other sports through a process that we call “transversality”.
Today’s growing public concern for the problem of safety on the roads and during sports activity grants greater significance to the Dainese mission as the company keeps looking further into the future and continues developing even more advanced projects for safety and comfort like air-bags and rider-vehicle integration.

The new logistics structure provides further witness of this commitment. The impressive building houses the products that are the fruit of the effort and means with which the “mission” is run. The showroom displays the latest results of the Dainese approach to design, while the new automatic warehouse promises distribution that is faster and more efficient than ever before, and the bottom line for Dainese comes with the words “mission accomplished”!

“Providing people with head-to-toe protection in dynamic sports” has been the corporate mission since it was founded in 1972 by its current CEO Lino Dainese, in this way making Dainese itself a company in continuous movement in every new application.”
